Longridge C of E — How It Started

By RIBBLE APPAREL |

A few years ago I started making school uniform for my daughter. I was already working in the industry, so it made sense to put together the mandatory items and everyday school wear myself.

Before diving in, I'd been to the local uniform shop to see their range and pricing and was surprised by how expensive everything was.

Seeing the mark-ups first-hand made it a no-brainer. I could kit my daughter out properly whilst saving money at the same time.

Rather than buying a school jacket, I decided to make her one with the school crest.

The idea wasn't just to add extra layers; it was to create that same sense of connection the official uniform gives, just in something the school didn't offer.

A jacket with a properly printed school crest is hard to miss, especially when nobody else at the school has one.

Parents were asking me where I’d managed to source a branded jacket the school didn't even stock, and I explained I'd made it myself.

The response was: "They're really nice, I'd love one for my child." And then: "Do you do the rest of the uniform, too? Can you do it?"

What started as making something decent for my daughter seemed to be turning into something bigger.
